FRUIT KEBABS WITH CHOCOLATE FONDUE

Fondues are always lots of fun, and the delicious ingredients used here—fresh fruit, chocolate and marshmallow—will make this recipe a popular choice with children and adults alike.

INGREDIENTS
2 bananas
2 kiwi fruit
12 strawberries
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

FOR THE FONDUE
8 ounces semisweet chocolate
1/2 cup light cream
8 marshmallows
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

SERVES 4

1. Peel the bananas and cut into thick chunks. Peel the kiwi fruit and quarter them. Thread the bananas, kiwi fruit and strawberries onto 4 wooden skewers. (Soak the skewers in water for 15 minutes beforehand to prevent them scorching on the grill.)

2. Mix together the butter, lemon juice and ground cinnamon and brush the mixture generously over the fruit.

3. For the fondue, place the chocolate, cream and marshmallows in a small pan and heat gently, without boiling, stirring constantly until the mixture has melted and is smooth.

4. Cook the kebabs on a medium- hot grill, turning once, for 2—3 minutes, or until the fruit is golden. Stir the vanilla extract into the fondue. Empty the fondue into a small bowl and serve at once, with the fruit kebabs.
